Early Childhood? I'm not joking friends!

Being an ECE educarer

For the past many years back, I was in a banking industry and switched to admin/corporate jobs. I've dealed with adults and NOT children! Well, they were either my clients, colleagues or bosses. It was a wonderful experiences working with such a reputable and well-known company and fashionable trendy working colleagues! However, I wasnt happy and felt miserable all the time...

Being a domestic goddess or diva for good 7 years made me realised and started to accept changes. I began to feel bored(sick of) with shopping spree, dates with bunch of HDB 'taitais' and partying! I wanted to do somthing for myself for the sake of my precious and its not to late to start!! yes! I exactly knew what i'm gonna do and follow my heart!

2 years ago I applied to be a Relief Teacher and build my confidence and enhance my learning experience with the young children. Becoming a childcare teacher can be a very rewarding career. You will be shaping the minds of young children during their most impressionable years.

Childcare teachers or some ‘ignorant citizens’ may label us as ‘child-minders. But, I dunt give a damn to those ppl as I know my job well and we are professionals in bringing up their child. One thing is for sure, there are particular qualifications and/or qualities that parents look for in a childcare teacher before deciding where to place a child in a teacher's care.


It is through personal interaction and play that most childcare teachers help children learn. That is why I need to encourage my toddlers’ curiosity and imagination, and give them experience to ask questions and explore answers using all five senses. Though, at times my mood is swing due for some reasons such as, depress, anger, etc etc…I have to act tough and put on smile.

Qualifications of Toddlers Teachers



The qualifications for preschool teachers may not always be as rigorous as those of primary. Childcare teachers that have specialized training in early childhood education have both the knowledge and skills needed to positively impact a child’s outcome. In other words, the most effective childcare teachers have at least Certificate in Early Childhood or Diploma with specialized training in teaching young children.

Each centres may have slightly different qualifications to become a child educarer teacher. If you want to be sure you are a respected and sought teacher by parents, be sure to know the qualifications needed in your centre. Also make a point of showing interested parents your educational degrees, certificates, and other important papers to prove your training has been completed (or is in progress).

As for me, I will teach the same basic principles, but those that are hands-on and give children the opportunity to explore and manipulate objects seem to work best for young learners. I will prepare a lesson plan that deals with all five senses, ensures that I am on the right track in delivering my lesson.

 I believe our young learners  need opportunities for choice, exploration, self-direction, and social interaction.
